College Post # 1

Hey now this is my desire, consume me like a fire cause I just want something beautiful to touch me. I know that I'm in reach cause I am down on my knees waiting for something beautiful.

Well...this is my very first blog post from college. Fair warning these are NOT going to come very often. Let me just tell you how busy this place is

I have been here 4 days and this is where i've been:

3 BBQ's, 1 Pancake Breakfast, Ralph's grocery run! Rodolfo's Mexican food, 1 Smoothie Party, 1 Bonfire Night, 1 Scavenger Hunt w/ Free Ice Cream, 2 runs to Target, 1 run to Walmart, 1 Run to Nordstroms Rack and Marshalls, 1 Progressive Dinner, Drive to pick up my cousins and their friends, 1 Chick Fil A run, 1 VMA hangout, 4 movie parties, 1 dance party...and do NOT FORGET...

Psychology, Geography, Spanish and Math

I had no idea that this much time existed in a day, but I feel like I have been here for WEEKS.

You know what I love about all these events?? All of it is free...

SO I have only had to make my own food twice...

I am truly enjoying myself. I have to say that I definitely got lucky with my roommates because we get along SO great. Yesterday we pretty much spent the whole night on the floor because we were laughing so hard. We just mesh really well and I am SO blessed that things are going smoothly. Praise God!!

There is absolutely NOTHING better than a Josh Kelly, Needtobreathe, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber concert for free with your two best friends the night before they leave for Ohio and Arizona.....literally NOTHING better.

One of the things (there were many) that I loved about the t-swift fans is that everybody knew the universal rule that concert attire MUST include boots. It was great.

I could literally go on and on about how amazing this night was, but all I will say is that we'll definitely be back when she returns to LA. Her concerts are RIDICULOUSLY good!

Abby and Megan...I know your expectations are high, but don't worry she will exceed all of those. haha

So I got my first goodbye letter yesterday and it was from the LOVELY Jessica Dippolito. And even though it wasn't the last time I was going to see her after I read it I was like....

I am SO weak!

Okay maybe it wasn't that drastic, but it was such a wonderful note that very much warmed my heart. Thank you Jessica...

I don't know how the rest of this week is gonna go...

The Help

Today I went to see the movie The Help

It was truly a touching film. I don't cry very often in movies, I could probably count the times on two hands, but this movie made me cry. I was very impressed by it and now I am inspired to read the book.

One of the things that stood out to me is what the main maid taught the little girl she was hired to look after. The girl unfortunately had a terrible mother....

Therefore, the maid made a point to make sure she knew:

You is smart. You is kind. You is important.

It made my heart go boom boom

Long Live

Just when I thought all my summer adventures were over WE SCORE TICKETS FOR TAYLOR SWIFT!! Me, Madeline and Jessica won tickets on the radio MONTHS ago, but all of a sudden life decided to attack us from the back and we realized we were all going to be in COLLEGE the dates we got the tickets. So all in the matter of a couple days Madeline was able to sell our tickets for money and Jessica found 3 tickets for cheap. Long story short, I will be seeing my lyrical IDOL in 4 days.

I cannot wait to sing my heart out with two of my favorite ladies before we head off for college! I'm so tired of all this sappy goodbye stuff, I want to go out with a bang! I don't want to mosey on into my future, I want to explode into it.

Lady Luck

Makes me wanna take a back road, makes me wanna take the long way home. Put a little gravel in my travel, unwind unravel all night long.

This picture was taken on my second night at Pine Mountain Lake and I gotta say it was probably THE most beautiful sunset that I have ever seen (and I've seen A LOT of sunsets). It was truly something painted by God. While hiking through Yosemite, I realized that the most breathtaking things in life are either intangible or cannot be made my man. There is nothing that humans can create that will ever equate to the beauty that already exists in this world. And this is why I feel so honored and blessed to even stand in the presence of all God's creations.

Going to Pine Mountain is one of those trips where you just find yourself continuously awestruck no matter where you are or what time of day it is.

Kayaking, canoeing, inner tubing, falling off the inner tube, jumping off the dock, fishing, riding waverunners, watching sunsets, walking through meadows, standing in front of a waterfall, eating at the oldest saloon in California, hiking, swimming in 75 degree water...

There aren't many places where you can do all that in 2 and 1/2 days

I am ONE lucky girl!

College Talk

So, college is approaching...and some people are like....

some are excited....

others are sad to leave home...

I have found myself varying between the three extremes. It is incredible how fast college is arriving. In exactly 20 days I will be living somewhere new. There is this bittersweet emotion that has completely consumed me, but I am more than ready to jump into this new phase of my life. It is going to be hard, but I know it'll be GREAT at the same time.

This bring tears to my eyes. I think people highly underestimate the emotion behind routines like this. I mean, I am someone who cannot dance AT ALL, but the piece that Kent and Sasha did just broke my heart. It truly is a beautiful thing how relatable dance is.

God has certainly blessed this world with such talented performers

Tenaja Trail of Tears...jk

DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT take the long trail to Tenaja Falls the first week in August. haha. We thought that it would be easy, but 10 miles in the humid hot air was just not okay. Definitely take the mile there and back trail. Don't get me wrong I had a GREAT time, it was definitely an adventure, BUT it was hard. I thought I would be home by 1 and ended up getting home at 5. haha Praise God we got home though!

P.S. There were three Great Oak students who had to get airlifted off the trail sooo please pray that they ended up being okay! Scary!
