Amazing Grace

Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear; and grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear. The hour I first believed.

Wow. What a day, what a day and it's only 2:40. haha I woke up early this morning to head over to the parade in Murrieta for Memorial Day. My grandpa was Grand Marshal MTSgt. :D It was so awesome to see him in the parade. He had the BIGGEST smile on his face, it was just amazing. Then afterwards, there was a ceremony for the new memorial that is going to be built in Murrieta. He is on the committee for this project and has been trying to get something started for a couple years now. It was incredible to see SO many WW2 and Vietnam war veterans there.

My favorite part for sure was when everyone stood up and watched them lower the flag. "Amazing Grace" was playing in the background as they walked it to my grandpa and handed it over for him to keep. He was so genuinely touched by everything that was going on. It was like I got to see him in a whole different light, I didn't know how much it meant to him.

After, people were lining up to shake his hand and newspaper reporters were asking him questions about what his thoughts were on the whole event. One of the writers for the Press Enterprise even came up to me and my cousin, Ryan, asking us how we felt about all the war veterans (including my grandpa) being recognized today. We basically just explained how proud we are of him, how blessed we are, and the chills that we got when they were bringing down the flag. The whole day was just indescribable. Loss of words for sure. :D
